Assistant Professor, Centre for Global Studies

Wendy Russell, PhD
I challenge students to aspire to rigorous, honest, and effective engagement with the complexity of life in a globally interconnected world.

I have the great good fortune to be a member of the Centre for Global Studies at Huron University College. The Centre for Global Studies exemplifies the best of what an undergraduate Liberal Arts education can provide today: a toolkit that prepares students for honest, critical, and effective engagement with the complexity of life in a globally interconnected world. To the end of meeting this challenge, I am committed in my research and teaching to interdisciplinary scholarship. Like my colleagues in the Centre, I ask my students to engage scholarship from many disciplines, but more from the many vibrant interdisciplinary fields of study that most effectively address social, political, and economic complexity in human life today. My students are challenged to develop advanced skills at every stage of their undergraduate career, to engage meaningfully with the material they study and research, and to develop their skills as analysts and communicators who can credibly and effectively engage with the realities of life under conditions set by globalization.
