Chaplain

Gary Thorne, PhD
Whatever your religious practice or core values I am interested in helping you discover local communities of support on campus and in London.

As the academic year begins, I want to let every student (whatever faith or spiritual tradition you profess, or none at all) know that if you’re feeling overwhelmed, reflective, or simply need a quiet and safe place for healing solitude, the chapel is open from 7 AM to 11 PM daily as a space for you to sit and be with your own thoughts and reflections. It is almost guaranteed that between 7-8 AM each morning and 8-11 PM each evening there will be nothing happening in the chapel space – intentionally kept quiet for you.  Of course at all other times, even when someone is practicing the organ, you are encouraged to come and sit quietly.

I hope to sit briefly with each of you in my office: simply for my own benefit to get to know you a bit.  No need to have any other reason to drop by!

I am also available to those who want to chat in confidence about a personal concern.

Never hesitate to send me an email or call me.

Finally, living in our wonderfully diverse community gives us a unique opportunity to learn about the core values of others howsoever they are expressed in a particular faith affiliation, a spiritual tradition, or a non-transcendent humanist commitment.  Whatever your religious practice or core values I am interested in helping you discover local communities of support on campus and in London.
