Assistant Professor, French

Andrea King, PhD
My teaching aims to connect students with their creative and critical instincts while helping them hone their French language skills. In my classes, we break down the barriers between creative and critical methods in order to better engage with and understand the world and contribute meaningfully to it.

Huron provides multiple opportunities to become a highly qualified researcher and thinker, opportunities that would normally only be available to graduate students.  Huron professors take a strong interest in mentoring their students through authentic and original research inquiry, such as through their work within the Centre for Undergraduate Research Learning.  Students can expect high-impact learning inside and outside the classroom.  For example, past students in French Studies have created original comics, critiqued live theatre productions, and co-authored scholarly papers with their professor.

Summary of Research:

  • Creative Writing (short fiction and novel)
  • Women’s Québec and Canadian fiction
  • Haunting in literature
